Possibly the best automotive news I’ve heard this year by far! Over the last few years the news from Honda has been nothing but depressing. As if ditching both the new S2000 and the nearly complete new NSX wasn’t bad enough, add the current Civic Type R (FN2) being binned as of January 2011 due to new European emissions regulations and the complete absence of an accord Type R for 2 generations, it seemed that the road going red H was destined for extinction. We where teased when the new CR Z was announced only to be disappointed when told it would be a hybrid. But wait, it seems Honda have seen the error of their ways and have heavily hinted that the first car to house their new straight 4 1.6 i-vtec turbo (which will be tuned to around 200bhp) will be the CR Z Type R. I’m a little gutted that honda are going down the forced industion route having stuck to NA for so long but hey, its a damn sight better than having no little affordable performance Hondas now isnt it!
Pictured above is the CRZ hybrid R consept that the type r will aparently lend alot from, if this is true I think it makes for an awesome looking little honda monster. I may have to put off getting a new car and keep an eye on this beauty mor details
